STATEMENT: Yes on 15 Statement on New Berkeley IGS Poll

Support for Prop. 15 leads by 15 points, and it’s the second poll in just a week to show double-digit margin of support

According to the new poll from UC Berkeley’s Institute of Governmental Studies, support for Prop. 15 leads by 15 points. This is the second time in just a week to show a double-digit margin for support of the measure.

“This is the second public poll within a week to show Californians support Prop. 15 – by double digits. Throughout this campaign, the polling has been consistent: Wide margins of voters support closing corporate tax loopholes to bring investments back into local communities,” said Alex Stack, Yes on 15 spokesperson. “This 15-point lead is another very encouraging sign for Prop. 15’s chances in November.”

This reflects the fact that polling has consistently shown that California voters overwhelmingly support Prop. 15:

  • PPIC’s September poll showed 51% support for Prop. 15. This followed PPIC’s April poll that showed 53% support, which was a 7 point increase from their November 2019 poll.

  • Internal poll conducted between August 30th and September 1st showed 54% support.

  • Latino Community Foundation poll conducted between August 7th and 16th showed 76% support from Latino voters, reinforcing findings from a similar poll conducted in March.

Prop. 15 is a November ballot measure that will close corporate property tax loopholes to reclaim nearly $12 billion every year for schools and critical local services – all while protecting homeowners and renters, small businesses, and agriculture. Prop. 15 will also cut business personal property taxes for small businesses. An analysis of Prop. 15 showed that only the top 10% will generate 92% of the revenue.
